Mind Renovation Day 19 – Dream Seed

God always begins with a SEED.

In the beginning God DREAMED of a family, PLANNED how He would fashion one, and then CREATED them–with the SEED of His word.

When God dreamed of a new nation he planted the seeds of His dream in Abraham’s mind. It all began with an IDEA–a BIG GOD IDEA. The only problem–Abraham had no framework of what a nation was or how it would be possible. God took him outside of his limited mindset to ignite his imagination with some dream seed…

He took him outside and said, “Look at the sky and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” Then He said to him, “Your offspring will be that numerous.” Genesis 15:5 HCSB

You Need to Practice Pondering

God planted dream seeds in young Joseph that would save Abraham’s star nation. Pondering those dreams kept him from rendezvousing with wayward wives and throwing in the towel behind prison doors.

We choose to harbor or abort the DREAM SEED by how we “let is dwell” or “let it leave”.

let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God” (Col. 3:16). (underline mine)

The Father DREAMED, PLANNED and CREATED a way to redeem his family back to himself. He planted the dream seed in Mary who would carry the seed of his idea to us.

But Mary treasured up all these things and *pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19 (emphasis added)

*pondering them = (symballō) to throw together, to bring together / bring together in ONE’S MIND, CONFER WITH ONE’S SELF

What do you SEE?

The Father has a few favorite questions. “What do you see” is one of them. Before we SEE it in the natural, God wants us to SEE it in the spirit. Your mind’s eye manifests the heart’s faith.

“Now faith is the turning of dreams into deeds; it is betting your life on the unseen realities.” Hebrews 11:1 (Cotton Patch Gospel version)

see it be it

Is your MIND good soil for God to plant His ideas? Remember Jesus’ parable of the seeds in Matthew 13? The same potential hides in every seed. But, that potential is only RELEASED when it’s buried in the soil. Some seeds are snatched, some scorched, some chocked. Seeds take root when dreams cannot be robbed by disappointment, worry and despair.

Sometimes when you think you’re in a dark place, you think you’ve been buried, but actually you’ve been planted. – Christine Caine

beauty of dream

God always begins with a seed. What seeds is He planting in your dreams today? Grab them and ponder them. Your destiny is stalled when you cease to dream. Doubt makes for a hostile seed environment. As we have the mind of Christ, our minds are fertile to sprout His dream seeds to bring the world back into His arms.

“Creating is simply transferring dreams from the realm of thought to the world of reality.” Dream: Discovering God’s Purpose for Your Life, Dutch Sheets

  • Let’s learn from Joseph, many times God plants dreams that are only for us to ponder for a season because other people can’t handle it. Have you ever let other people steal your dream seed?
  • Read The Parable of the Seed in Matthew 13. What is the greatest threat to your dream seeds?
  • What things make a fertile mind to grow God’s dreams? What makes a hostile environment for them?

Lord, thank you for your great purposes over my life. Thank you for trusting me with your DREAM to advance you love to the nations. Make my heart fertile to sprout your BIG ideas. Help me to SEE the things YOU are dreaming over me & BE them to the world.

Day 19. “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28

Big Thought: God plants dream seeds in your mind for you to steward.
